As a teenager over fifty years ago, I became an exercise freak. I started doing push-ups and chin-ups religiously. Soon, I discovered yoga in the back of an old book store. I was fascinated by the idea of holistic fitness that yoga proposed. I was especially interested in the idea of spiritual fitness. It wasn’t long before I realized that everyone had their own yoga, their own way of relating to the Universe/God/the world around them. It was this yoga, this yoking of self to world and body that became my major interest.
Yoes Yoga is based on two statements from the King James Version of the Bible: “Let your communication be,Yea, yea; Nay, nay. Whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.”
And, from the book of Revelation: “I am alpha and omega.”
I discovered the first statement in l955 after asking the Universe/God/the Greater Principle for help with my spiritual exercises. At that time, I was following Mary Baker Eddy. The orthodox practices of Christian Science were not enough to keep me satisfied that I was making progress. I did continue with Christian Science for the next ten years, and found it very helpful but something was missing and I suspected that it had to do with the “Yea, yea; Nay, nay” mantra I had received in l955. I often meditated with this mantra and continually contemplated how it could be best used as a mantra. Then, one time in l975, when I was crossing the desert of New Mexico, I had a mystical experience, an epiphany, satori, enlightenment experience. I was meditating on the mantra, which I call “The Comforter,” and my consciousness was altered radically. For days after the desert break through, I was unfolding insights that I used to build my yoga. I built a tree-house in the hills north of San Luis Obispo, CA. I lived in that tree-house for several months while formulating my holistic exercise system, Rainbow Making.
"As rainbows are made by a right relationship between observer (iota) and Sun rays (Omega) and rain drops (alpha); so, as iota, I make rainbow like relationships out of the alpha & Omega contraries of my human experience...”
